@LukasB SEAL as such has no issue connecting. However, a given application/database has to support a given server type.
A database/application will typically be connected to hardware. There can of course be cases where everything is located outside the AS.
Is the use case here engineering of RP/MP controllers connected over IP to an EdgeServer?
There shouldn't really be any big technical constraint, but I'd like to understand the use case.

Sounds fair.
One of the main use cases would be rp/mp controllers yes.
Different interfaces such as modbus tcp, bacnet and mqtt to connect devices situated in buildings where we do not have avalible servers to host the device.
We have limitations on deploying interfaces directly on the ES, not technical, rather strict guidlines. It would be great to deploy an edge-server under the ES to host said things and be able to connect via SEAL to simplify my work.
