webmin default username and password

Jef Faridi

Hi jef

As you're aware regarding the DCO installation on redhat Ive successfully done it finally and it is working fine but previously for webmin on centOS we use to set the username and password but here it was all an automatic installation ( via command line) and there was no option to change the user and pass for webmin now when I'm trying to access the webmin it is not taking the username and pass the default ONE (ROOT ROOT) or (APC APC)

kindly suggest from where i can get the username or password for webmin or do i need to change it if so then how ?

Only i was able to change the web user and pass and that was default one (APC APC) and Ive already changed it but webmin its not working

Pls urgent support is required

Thanks

Hi Waseem,

Sounds great that your installation was successful.  You can use the same login credentials that you've used to login to the redhat server.

Kind regards

Jef Faridi

Hi jef

As per the installation instructions of RedHat sent by you i followed the same using the /tmp/ folder for mounting and installation was done but now when I'm restoring the backup file i face the below issues screen-shots are attached its getting failed the space is not enough in /tmp/ and as per my conversation with the redhat admin department they said its the root folder the size cant be increased.

Do we have any solution for this as the restore file is getting extracted in the same /tmp/ folder and i think all the installation files are in this folder

Pls suggest this is very critical

Regards

Jef Faridi it creates work directory during restoration in the same /tmp/ folder and it is utilizing a large amount of space and we don't have space in that, i believe that is why its failing

But there must be some solution to it ?

Hi Waseem,

Try to free space (from the /tmp folder) by removing the installation files and see if that helps.

Out of curiosity what the size of your /tmp folder? would you mind to share screen capture of the command "df -h" on server?

Kind regards

Hi Waseem,

It seems the server is not rebooted yet, so rebooting the server should also clear the /tmp/iso folder. However, the root portion seems to be very small (only 20 GB) and completely full.

For the redhat installation itself, I would have selected very large / partition and much smaller /home.

Kind regards

Hi Waseem,

Rebooting the server may clear the /tmp/iso folder (temporarily containing the DCO installation files), but I doubt that could resolve your disc space issue. Basically you have very little space on root partition.

Kind regards

But regarding the space, the requirement you sent me ( installation procedure and guide link) i shared the the same with the RedHat team even though they have kept the space accordingly but i wasn't aware about Root and it wasn't mention anywhere in the link.

Now pls suggest me what is the final solution to it ?

what we can do to solve this issue ?

your urgent support is required

Hi Waseem,

That's correct the installation requirements (Installing DCO on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7) lists the partitions that are specifically used by the application (DCO), but administration of the operating system itself is up to you/customer, eg. you decide how to set it up.

But as mentioned, I would have chosen a much larger "/" partition, so the server/operating system shouldn't have disc space issues when doing operations such as restoring backup file(s), creating backup file(s), generating server logs, etc. where usually the temporary folder /tmp would be used.

Kind regards

Jef Faridi

Yeah i already checked with the RedHat team they have some limitations on root folder and also they cannot increase the size of it, they have some limited space but they told me on the other folder namely OPT screen-shot is attached they have space and they can increase it also they are pushing us to install the application over there

But i guess for that we have to uninstall and and re-install the DCO

kindly suggest ?

Hi Waseem,

Please notice that we have been talking about the root partition "/" (and not root folder). As I understand it, your / partition (19 GB) is almost full, and I'm not sure how reinstalling the application (DCO) would help.

To answer your question, yes, in general, if for any reason DCO needs to be reinstalled, then it has to be uninstalled first.

I was wondering perhaps rebuilding the redhat server itself (and then installing DCO) might be a solution.

Kind regards

Jef Faridi Hi jef

yeah i think that will be the final solution

but i need from you the complete space requirement details so that i will share the same with the Redhat team to build the new server now, so that wont face this space issues again (e.g how much for root partition, the complete space requirement)

Thanks for your support always

Hi Waseem,

I think this is something you need to discus with your redhat expert(s)/administrator.

However, if I had to setup a redhat server (for DCO) on a 200 GB disc and was unsure about the partitions, then I would go for:

at least 100 GB for DCO specific partitions (according to installation requirements)

and then the rest could be something like:

swap   (maybe 1 GB)

/boot  (maybe 0.5 GB)

/home (maybe few GB, such as 5 GB if needed)

/          (may get the rest, such as 94 or so GB)

Please notice that this is just an example, hope it helps.

Kind regards

Hi Waseem,

It seems the Uninstall instruction/command needs to be reviewed and corrected/updated. I have registered and enhancement case for this.

You do not need to uninstall DCO if you are going to rebuild the redhat server (it should overwrite the existing data).

Kind regards

And also i got reply from RedHat team as i have already told you they have some limitations

in there recent reply they have mention that,

You cant have / file system of 100 GB

Kindly provide a different file system and owner information to create the file system

Pls suggest- it is getting very confusing for me

Hi Waseem,

That was just an example (and not a requirement) to clarify that "/" partition should be large enough - as mentioned administration of the operating system itself is up to you/customer, so you decide how to set it up.

Kind regards

Hi Waseem,

According to the kindly provided log files, there seem to be disc space issue, it says "No space left on device".

Please notice that the general installation requirements listing the Minimum recommended partition size.

You might want to have a closer look at your operational setup (on CentOS, origin of the backup file) and see what is the usage of setup/database on certain partitions (such as /var/lib/pgsql). And then based on that knowledge, you can plan partitioning/installation.

Please let me know if you have questions, thanks.

Kind regards

Jef Faridi hi jef

As per my understanding  you mean our db is large in size and during restoration it occupies the whole space even though we have created the partition as per the requirement but that is listed as minimum recommendation so we have to check our current operational  setup which is on centOS and based on that we have increase the space.

But i have a question how we are gonna check the space on our current setup via putty i used the same command df -h but i see a difference between the two servers (The Folders) and how can i compare the space between the 2 because this is important based on this i will request the redhat team to upgrade the space on specific partitions

Pls check the screenshot

The .16 is our current operational server

Thanks

Hi Waseem,

If you type for example  "du -h /var/lib/pgsql", it should display the current size/usage.

Kind regards

Hi Waseem,

You are welcome,

Sounds great, that the installation/restore issue is resolved. I have also looked at your attached text file, it says the restore is completed.

Concerning the backup status question: it seems your latest backup have failed.

Try to run a manual backup and see how it goes? and what is being displayed on the screen (Backup notifications)? I might also need to look into the server logs, thanks.

Kind regards
