update firmware for private lan equipment

I'm trying to update the firmware for Air conditioning and UPS from the Struxureware AP9465 but I can't see any equipment in the list to update. How I can see all the equipment so I can update firmware? If I try to update firmware directly I got an error because the equipment is on the private lan in de AP9465.

Hi Christian!

  1. Most likely You can't see equipment in the list because firmware version on your devices is higher than in your firmware catalog on DCE server.

Did you use the latest version of FW catalog?

2. You can upgrade firmware manually using ftp client with SOKCS5 proxy support. I'm using Total Commander. Just specify DCE's address in connection settings as firewall address and you will be able to connect to the device directly and put firmware files.

Dear Christian,

I am using DCE version 7.2.5, and the devices are on Private LAN.

I can see my devices which are on Private LAN of DCE and their current firmware version and available firmware version after I click on Check Updates.

StruxureWare Data Center Expert server provides firmware
updates for APC SNMP devices with Network Management Cards.

Please allow traffic to APC Updates Web browser or Internet for DCE to download the latest firmware updates.

If you are having problems contacting the APC Update server through DCE, I would check the proxy/firewall settings.

or

You can download a copy of the APC updates catalog (for SNMP devices and NetBotz
Appliances) to your client, and then import that catalog to the StruxureWare Data Center
Expert server, when that server does not have internet access to the APC updates server.

Note: This procedure assumes your client has internet access to the APC updates server.
If not, you will need to download the updates catalog to a machine that does have access,
and transfer the file to your client.
1. Access the Software/Firmware download page (http://apc.com/tools/download).
2. In the Filter by Hardware list, select StruxureWare Data Center Expert , then
select your part number, and click Submit.
3. In StruxureWare Data Center Expert Device Firmware Catalog File listing, click
Download.
4. In the APC Login/Registration page, click Login, if you are already registered, or
Register, to register.
5. In the Personal Login page, log in.
6. In the Software/Firmware download page, click Download Now.
7. Once the updates catalog is downloaded, select Apply Firmware Updates in the
Updates menu in the StruxureWare Data Center Expert client.
8. In the "Select Device Updates" display, click Import.
9. In the "Open" display, browse to the downloaded APC updates catalog, and click
Open.
10. Go to step 4 of the Performing a firmware update task to update devices using the
imported APC updates catalog.

Or

You can connect your laptop with automatic IP address assignment option and connect it to Private LAN network of DCE so that you can access any devices which are on Private LAN. This can allow you to upgrade the firmware of the device through executable method or any of the method used in the below K-base document.

http://www.apc.com/site/support/in/en/faq/

K-base ID: FA156047

I hope this helps.

Note: My suggestion is to upgrade the firmware for one or two devices first and see if the firmware upgrade is successfully. And then do the same procedure for all the rest of the devices.

regards,

Bala
