problem hitting NTP server from Netbotz 250

We recently installed a Netbotz 250 and set up the configuration to synchronize time with our NTP server (we only have one) every 5 hours.  It is showing status of "Last update failed - No reply from servers".  I've verified the IP address is correct for the NTP server.  I've pinged it and run w32tm commands to review the settings and everything looks good, but when I try to UPdate using NTP Now it still fails.  Suggestions?

Hi IT,

If you have a StruxureWare Data Center Expert server, you can set it up as an NTP server as well, try using it to see if it's something specific about your current server or network.

Check your firewalls on your routers. Check the firewall option within the 250 itself.

Verify it is actually failing. Manually set the time on the 250 to something incorrect and save. Go back and change it back to NTP and force another update. Does it still fail, does the time still show incorrectly? Change the page and go back to make sure it is updating.

Run a packet capture. If you can run a packet capture near the device, you can see if we're sending properly and if there is a response coming back. If you run a packet capture at the NTP end, you can see if the request is getting through to the server and if it is responding. This should provide info on where the issue lies if it is network related.

If the device can get out to the internet, use a public NTP. Here's a list of some that can be used:

Thanks,

Steve
