Hi Brendan,
Although you can right click a device and change device type to change it's icon, the folders in DCE do not have this same option. They will always look like folders. The empty ones will have a blank folder, the filled folders with devices operating without alarm will also have a green check, and folders with devices in alarm will show an alarm/folder icon with an exclamation point or X depicting the highest level alarm.
Although I do not believe this is something that they are looking to change, you can always make suggestions of this type by using the top menu "Resources" and it's sub-menu "Feature Requests". Here you can make that suggestion and engineering will get these and consider them.
