The equipment browser field 'rack' is no longer an editable field. It was avaialble in 7.4.5, but has somehow been greyed out in 7.5. We have used this field as a key indicator for analys of our data, but this now makes it impossible to do this.

Hi Pete,
It seems the "Rack" filed (in the Equipment Browser) is not editable in 7.4.5 either (so apparently should be the same in 7.5), here is a screen capture of my quick 7.4.5 test.
Please let me know if I have misunderstood the message, thanks.
Kind regards

yes, you have understood the question, however we 'were' able to edit the field in 7.4.5, as i have extracts straight from 7.4.5, where this field is completed. Whether the rack name took it's data from the 'name' field and this link has now been broken i'm not sure?

Hi Pete, Many thanks for your comment, would it be possible for you to add some screen captures illustrating what you were used to do, what you are missing and what you want to achieve. Then I will share it with our team and see how we can help you out, thanks.

i think essentially, that for every device in any rack, the rack name is posted in the field 'rack' against that device. But for the rack itself, this value is not posted in the field 'rack'. This is the value we have been using before, as that value was posted in that field. So something has changed from 7.4.5 to 7.5. it is strange that the value is posted against any device within the rack, but against the rack itself.

in fact, if you look at your screen capture, you can see that there is detail in the field 'rack' in 7.4.5, but this is not the same in 7.5

Hi Pete, I've studied this in detail, and actually it turns out that the issue in fact is: the 'Rack' filed in Equipment Browser is not displaying rack Name. I can acknowledge this as a "bug" - I have now registered this as an enhancement case in our system. Thank you, Kind regards

Hi Pete, Unfortunately the date for the required enhancement is not known yet - perhaps the following might help a little: a) using the "Name" filed in Equipment Browser, that display the equipment name including racks b) or using the Equipment Browser "Export Table" feature, which can export the content of the Equipment Browser to an excel work sheet. Then the target racks can easily be highlighted or located in the excel file. Kind regards

The only thing you can edit would be the actual rack genome, i.e. change the rack name from A01 to A02. I'm curious to know why would you want to edit a rack field for a device that's within a rack? That would essentially mean you'd be changing the rack that's its within?
