We have a few APC Smart-UPS that show up with battery age unknown in DCE. When I select them and "view device sensors" the battery age and ups age are negative numbers

Just found the answer. It looks like it was due to the date format selected for the default user. Any UPS with the date format set to YYYY-MM-DD reported negative numbers. When I changed the default user date format to MM/DD/YYYY the dates report OK in DCE and the battery age report shows the correct age

Hi Andrew,
My first suggestion would be to log in to the NMC installed in this UPS. What is the last battery replacement date? This is the value that StruxureWare should be pulling. If the date is in the future, that's your problem right there. If it is not, please verify a few things.
What UPS model?
What NMC is installed in it?
What firmware is running on the NMC?
What version of StruxureWare DCE are you running?
Go to the Device menu, SNMP device communications settings, and device definition files. What is the version number listed for the APC SmartUPS DDF and if you update the definition, does it resolve the issue?
Thanks,
Steve

Andrew, Please also verify what time is set on the local NMC. If necessary, try to sync it up with an NTP server or manually set it to be correct. Best Regards, Cory

Good point Cory....especially since the UPS age is in the negative as well.

Yes, thanks Andrew, I've forwarded this bit of info on to engineering. It will likely be addressed in a DDF change as the SNMP output is changed on the device with this configuration change and I'm thinking that is by default. Steve
