Windows 2012 Server for IT Optimize (ITO)

Hi,

Can we run ITO on Windows 2012 server instead of Windows 2008?

Also, can we run both ITO and Portal on the same Windows 2012 server, where the machine meets both combined system requirements?

Thanks!

ITO is not currently supported on Windows 2012. Support for this Operating system is expected with the 7.5 release of ITO. This release will likely be tied to the StruxureWare DC Operation 7.5 release.

StruxureWare Portal and IT Optimize can co-exist on the same server today. By default the portal uses port 8080, ITO uses port 8090. Be careful not to use conflicting port numbers if you choose to change the default ports during product installation.

You should plan to combine system requirements if you choose to install both products on the same server. Combined installation should have at least 8 GB of memory, 6 or more CPU's.

I would expect the StruxureWare Portal and ITO will be able to co-exist on Windows 2012 as well. It has of course not be tested yet.

ITO has not officially been updated to officially support installation on windows 2012. This does not mean however that ITO cannot be installed on a Windows 2012 host. To do so, you will need to run the ITO installer from the windows command line and specify the "--check_os_supported no" command line parameter. Regards Greg Sterling

Hi Support Team,

any news in regards to IT Optimze - we have now DCO 8.1 and only Windows 2008 is supported.

The Mainstream Support für this OP System ended in January 2015.

Please advise.

Best regards

Piotr

ITO can be installed on Windows 2012.

To do so,  you will need to run the ITO installer from the windows command line and specify the "--check_os_supported no" command line parameter.

We will investigate a more permanent/default fix for this work-around.

Regards

Hi Greg,

According your answer, ITO is not supported on Windows 2012 but we could install it, right?. Schneider warranty the good operation, communication (severs – ITO – DCO) using the ITO on Windows 2012? In case that something is not working properly between the ITO and DCO, Could be the Windows 2012 the root cause? Do you advice install the ITO on Windows 2012?... We may install this software in a very important customer and we may to avoid any delay or malfunctioning in the implementation… thanks a lot for your support and information. Regards,

Yes, ITO can be installed on Windows 2012 using the above workaround. You can expect discovery, polling, and the interaction with DCO to work properly. I have used it quite often internally as well.

We are looking into where there's a problem when DCO creates a backup and it reports it cannot get a backup from the ITO server. We are still investigating the cause of that issue as it came to our attention over the last few days.

Regards

Greg Sterling
