For instance :
Dell Servers - Dell is a fairly large source of servers for customers, as are Cisco, HP, etc.
Dell servers not in the genome file that should be :
R830 - manufactured beginning in 2016
R930 - manufactured beginning in 2015
R540, 640, 740, 840, 940 - all manufactured beginning at least a year ago
HP - only a few G9 servers are in the file, not sure if there are any G10
Cisco - Many M4 series servers and blades are missing, I don't think any M5 gear is there.
Customers should not have to ask for such obvious equipment to be added to the file. They should also not have to manufacture the objects themselves. Customers are paying for support on our DCIM software - this sort of equipment should be updated aggressively.

Hi Eric,
To my knowledge genome library is being regularly expanded with new items. The new items are usually included in the latest release version, furthermore there is also an option to apply manually the latest genome updates to your version of DCO. Genome Library download detail(s) can be fetched from the local tech support (they may ask for valid support contract).
I have checked the above mentioned items in my test setup (DCO 8.2.7) with the latest Genome update (062018), appears all included:
Support for devices that are not currently supported can be requested here:
http://sxwhelpcenter.ecostruxureit.com/devices
It would have been great if we had all equipment in the genome library, but that is not humanly possible to create at this moment, so the priority is to use resources to build what customers asking first.
I would recommend upgrading the product to latest release version (currently DCO 8.2.7) + Genome update ( latest release: "Genomes_062018"). Product upgrade details can also be fetched from the local tech support.
It is also possible/supported to apply the Genome update Genomes_062018 to your product (apparently 8.2.2).
Hope this helps,
Kind regards

I've found the problems.
First, I have 2 methods of loading Genomes -
One is listed under "File - Import - Genomes"
Here, I have not been able to locate a file with the file extension of ".cat" - so I haven't ever been able to attempt this - so I don't know what it would do.
The other is under "Tools - Preferences - Genome Library"
Here you can select "Apply Update file" - and this will accept the file referenced in the post above, but the information is placed into the "Genome Library where it is not directly accessible to you.
If I want to access something new - not already in the Genomes tab, but presumably in the Genomes Library -
Make sure you're in planning
You have to open your Genome Library -
Tools - open Genome Library
minimize your facility layout
- to add them to the Genomes Tab
Search for an item in the genome library
Select item
Right click item, select "Add to Genomes"
Maximize your facility layout
- select the cabinet you're working on
- select the Genomes tab (not the Genomes Library)
Search for the item you need to add
Then you can select the item you just added to the Genomes tab
click on item and drag it to its location in the cabinet you previously selected.
Repeat
Looks like I can select multiple items in the Genome Library and add them to the Genomes Tab
- does anyone know if I can just select the entire Genome library and add it to the "Genomes" tab so that I don't have to add this extra step every time a new device is purchased ?
Is it somehow easier this way than if the entire Genome library was available in the "Genomes Tab" upon importing the Genomes Library ?
