Virtual sensor reading unplugged

Hi

I have Netbotz temperature sensors added to a virtual sensor but it goes unplugged all the time. i have looked to see if its maybe the sensors losing connection but it doesn't. What else can cause the virtual sensor to show unplugged ?

Thank you

Hi Quinton,

What are you using to create this virtual sensor? If it's NetBotz sensors, I have seen instances where one of the sensors used to create the virtual sensor does not respond on every post. This could cause something similar to what you're seeing.

Are they SNMP values, NetBotz, or Modbus sensors used to create the virtual sensor? If you run a report on the sensors that make up the virtual sensor and the virtual sensor itself, do you see values for each sensor for all periods? How many do you have and are they all doing this?

I'm using DCE to create the virtual sensors and it consists of the netbotz temperature sensors they are netbotz sensors, when i generate the sensor history report for those sensors I don't see any break in the graph where any of them might have disconnected. Ive had this issues before but it has gone away now its back and not on all just a selected few. Strange is when i say edit on this virtual sensor and then ok the value returns but a few mins later its back as unplugged

Quinton, Can you verify the time settings on the DCE server and NetBotz are the same? Are you using multiple NetBotz or just multiple sensors from the same NetBotz appliance? Steve

Steven I checked the unit and the time is ahead of the DCE server. I'm using multiple sensors from this one Netbotz unit. Why would humidity sensors on the same unit not do the same thing on DCE its from the same appliance? Its only the temperature virtual sensor doing this

Hi Quinton, The posts from the NetBotz appliance may not include all data from every sensor. Add to that the fact that the virtual sensors have a different time that they are calculated and posted, there are a number of variables that could cause the DCE server to not see the sensors properly. As for times, I have also seen issues where a NetBotz appliance may post surveillance for instance. The NetBotz appliance in this case is ahead of DCE in the time setting. If you look for the images for the last hour you will not see it because DCE sees the time as in the future. If you check surveillance for a time frame including the future, you will see the images. That's why I'm thinking the time may be effecting what we see here. Can you sync them up and see if it helps? Steve
