Hi,
I need to monitor temperature and humidity on some IDF rooms.
We have Netbotz250 unit in the server room and where possible we are using remote T/H sensor connected directly to NB250 sensor port using CAT6 copper cable or trough Netbotz 150.
On some location we only have fiber from server room to IDF switch so the solution above is not possible.
The actual only solution is to install a NB250 to each IDF .. but for only one sensor the solution is too expensive.
Do you know if there is a T/H sensor that can be connected to a Network port and managed directly by DCE ?

Do you have any APC rack PDUs deployed in your IDF? The newer 2G rack PDUs allows a temperature sensor to be connected. It would be easier to justify upgrading a PDU with an additional temperature/humidity sensor purchase.

Hi Stefano,
Sorry but no. The NetBotz sensor pods and a-link sensors are not IP addressable and the communications across the cat-5 a-link connection is not TCP/IP. If the "IDF" room has a UPS in it, perhaps that UPS has a network management card to which you can often connect a temperature sensor. You could also look at wireless sensors if it is close enough and there's not much interference.

No we still have the rack mount 1U PDU on the IDF due the low numbers of socket needed
the PDU upgrade is more expensive that install a new NetBoot 250 in the idf
