Is there option or a patch to add Simple PUE from DCO to DCE as a sensor?
Can this be added?
This could be usefull, as you could have value in monitoring at DCE & it would simplify systhem check to a user.

Hi Boris
I haven't done it explicitly with the DCO SNMP agent specifically but there is (or used to be) a feature in the SNMP agent that enables scripted custom OIDs. I've done this before successfully (but many years ago). We would need to check that the simple PUE calc built into DCO (not EE) was available programatically (e.g. API, or Export DB call) and then craft this into a custom OID on the SNMP agent. I think that might meet your exact requirement as stated
But perhaps your business requirement is broader? You might also explore embedding the DCO PUE widget into a web page/ StruxureWare Portal or similar. And other may suggest other solutions. Let me know if you like more info
Cheers
Ed

Hi, if there is option to use OID it would be great. On portal you cant place "simple" PUE(now on just PUE) from DCO, because it is restricted. I asked Jeff Faridi on this subject personaly.
Since DCO is monitored by DCE in this case, I would like to use PUE, because this is one of my clients wishes, so he doesn`t have to open DCO web gui.

Hi,
Is there a possibilit to get OID, because you can`t put PUE on Portal page. It is restricted.
Do you have another way to read PUE value DCE?

Hi Boris
I have confirmed I can get the DCO simple PUE value programmatically and if the SNMP agent behaves as I expect then I believe I can craft this feature. This will require several hours of effort and is in my to do queue. I can't put this type of work at the top of my list right now but will post my progress as I make it.
Cheers

Boris
I've done the necessary tinkering.
Good news is that I can get the DCO PUE figure (not EE) to appear in the DCE.
Bad news is that the transport mechanism used between DCE and DCO (SNMP) does not carry real numbers, only integers. If anyone has a contrary point of view, please let me know.
That means you can get:
A) a PUE with the decimal places dropped, i.e. 1.9 becomes 1 as does 1.01 or;
B) a PUE multiplied by say 100, so 1.7 shows as 170, 2.35 shows as 235.
I hope that makes sense. I also hope someone can show me how to carry real numbers (e.g. 1.65) via SNMP.
Let me know if you're interested in progressing and which poison is your preference.
Cheers
Ed

Thinking more about it, this challenge might be addressed with the DCE DDF. So I'll craft option B) and see what we can do from there.

Dear Ed Tarento,
I am interested in this topic: it is easier for me to create a separate DDF-file for DCO (PUE). Since you have already noticed, that standard DCE software Supplemental OIDs do not allow the decimal point to be processed.
With respect.

Hello Ed & spezialist,
Sorry for silence, but last week I was on site building new data center & only had on-line abilities in the evening.
If there is possibility to get the separate ddf file it would be great.
For now I think that Ed`s option B is more acceptable.
I will use it to show it to client & think he will be very happy.

With a prompt by Greg Sterling I think I may have worked a way to get the exact PUE to DCE (so no need to fiddle with DDF, thanks anyway spezialist). I'm waiting til tomorrow when DCO PUE updates with a new value to see how that works in the DCE graph. I'll then write up some instructions for you. The solution currently looks like:

Hi spezialist and Boris Majdandzic
I don't understand your posts, Nov 15 & 16. AFAIK, there is no problem making these modifications but they are unsupported, by SE or myself. I can try to help but there is no guarantee of success or future interoperability. We just do our best to help the community. I hope this helps.
Cheers
