When opening a room layout in the web browser in the top left corner is a quick search field.
I have typed data into it and hit enter but nothing seems to happen. Does this feature work?

Hi James,
If it doesn't find the "typed data", then nothing happens, otherwise it will display the list of possible/successful search result. In the following example/illustration I was searching for a "rack":
(I'm using DCO 8.0.1 for this test).
Kind regards

The feature works - but I guess that we can improve the user experience.
If the server recently started - e.g. after you have restored a backup, there is an short period of time where the server is indexing the rooms for search optimization. If you search before the indexing has completed you won't get any results. (It would be good if we displayed a better message to the user while the indexing takes place - as an empty text box makes you wonder if it works)
Depending of the size of your solution and the speed of your server it could take up to 45 minutes, but in more normal scenarios it could take anywhere between 5 and 15 minutes.

Anders ThorbjΓΈrn JensenJef Faridi - Thanks for the replies. Does it search for in rack equipment? After Jef's reply I tried 'Rack' in the search field and details came up but when putting a server name in nothing appears.

Hi - I realize that I misunderstood your original question. The Global search on the welcome page will allow you to search for racks, servers etc. Basically all equipment that you have modelled in your data centers. You can search by type name etc. The Quick Search is active when a room is loaded. It is intended for search among the equipment placed on the floor within the room. So you can search for names of e.g. a rack but not for the name of a server. The intention of the quick search is to make it easier to navigate in a large room and allow you to locate floor based equipment easily. It could be useful tough to allow search for e.g. a server to happen at the room level.

Anders ThorbjΓΈrn Jensen That clears it up. I agree with you that it would be useful to have the quick search to search for all equipment in the room currently loaded.
