Hello,
I have a problem with an APC Netbotz 550.
Everything was working fine until this morning. Now, I cannot access my APC Netbotz via Ethernet / Internet, it says "Connection refused" in browser.
I tried to ping the device but it says timeout, and after a while the device responds with ping, but then again after 1-2 minutes the ping reply doesn't work anymore. The browser interface is still inaccessible, however.
I managed to connect via Serial to this device and here's what I've got:
usb 3-4: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 2 m82xx: initializing controller m82xx_start_controller: Using internal SOF timer m82xx: initializing done pqusbh pqusbh: MPC82xx Integrated USB Controller pqusbh pqusbh: new USB bus registered, assigned bus number 4 hub 4-0:1.0: USB hub found hub 4-0:1.0: 1 port detected rh_port_power(1) SCSI subsystem initialized Initializing USB Mass Storage driver... scsi0 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices usbcore: registered new driver usb-storage USB Mass Storage support registered. Also, I tried downloading the tftp software, placing it on a server and upgrading the device to 4.6.1 Netbotz. Still with no luck. What should I do?
Thanks,
Petru

Hi Petru,
does the same information scroll again and again in the serial connection or does it change each time? If it cycles, it’s possuble the unit is power cycling itself. I have seen instances where the reset button , if pressed a little sideways, can stick and force the unit into a reboot loop.
You mentioned attempting a TFTP flash. Did you ever get to the point in the boot sequence where the unit counts down as noted in the TFTP document? If not, make sure the unit is power cycled to try to get to that point.
If this fails, I suggest disconnecting all sensors and trying again. If it still fails, try connecting to a different power source. To what voltage is this unit connected? Is it in a hot environment or does the unit seem to be getting hot itself?
if you change environment and still can’t access it properly with a serial connection it may be a hardware issue and you may need to look into replacing the unit.
Thanks,
Steve
