We have a netbotz appliance 450 and netbotz pod 150. we want to connect them through A-link port using Ethernet cat-5 cable. and the length between them is 107 meters so we need to use a POE repeater. so we need a recommendation for a repeater? or other solution if there?

Hi Mohamed,
It's not ethernet so I wouldn't use a POE injector. The sensor pod 150 has a power jack on it and we suggest using the AP9595I power supply.

Hi Steve,
let me clarify the issue. we have 2 netbotz, the distance between them is 107 meters and we need to connect them and the netbotz pod 150 installed in a place does not have power source. so we are not able to use a power supply for netbotz 150. it will take the power from netbotz 450 (POE). so what is your recommendation? and
is 107 meters are OK and we do not need to use a repeater to extend the length?

Hi Mohamed,,
From a single NetBotz appliance to a single pod, 107 meters should be OK without power. As I mentioned, a POE injector is for ethernet and the pinouts (sorry, I can't provide them) for A-link do not match up. That being the case, the pod or maybe even the appliance could be damaged.

Hi Steve,
As i understand from you, I do not need to use a POE repeater/injector as the distance of 107 meters is OK and the sensor pod-150 will be directly supplied with power via POE (A-link of NetBotz-450). is that right?
So, What is the max. allowable node to node distance for A-link?

Hi Mohamed,
The Alink protocol has a maximum distance of 1000 meters (3,280 ft). Connected via Cat5 cabling which has a functional limitation of 100m per length. I believe an extra 9 meters will not cause an issue.
Yes, the pod will be powered by the unit itself. Since you mentioned using the 450, that unit is powered by AC and not POE. If you are instead using the wall mount 455, that is powered by POE. In either case, there is enough power for the 2 pods.

Hi Mohamed,
I've provided the specs and the recommended alternate power options. An extra few meters should not matter. Again, this is a cat5 limitation (100 meters per length) and you could end up with comm issues at these distances. I can't promise that in your environment it will work. I can't say that it won't. Every environment is different. I'll assume that in a perfect world, 130 meters for an individual length would still work but I can't make any promises. I can only provide the info I've already provided.
