Need help with creating an alarm in DCE

I am trying to create an alarm in DCE that will send an email when a UPS has gone to "On Battery", but also want to include the current "Battery Time Remaining". Can someone help? Thank you.

Hi @MWolf380,

It is not possible to include other sensors values in an alert from DCE.  You can only include the sensor value that the alert is for.  In your example, the only sensor that you would be able to include would be the status of the UPS Operation Mode sensor or something similar, meaning it would say "On Battery".

You could run a sensor history report for the Battery Time Remaining sensor and create a second threshold for when it dips below a certain number.  This would cause a second email to come through, but the unit will be operating on battery power for a period of time before sending out this second email with the battery time remaining.

Here is part of the email body from the Battery Time Remaining threshold triggering:

Just a note that runtime of UPSs decreases over time as the batteries wear down or load increases, so you will need to take this into account when determining what to set for the minimum value of the threshold.  Hopefully your environment has fairly stable power utilization which may make this a viable work around to get the second threshold email soon after the first.

Regards,

Cory

Cory,

Thank you for your response. I didn't think that it was possible, but wanted to make sure by asking out here. I like the idea of the the second alert for the battery too low, just not sure if this will be the best resolution to my scenario. Thank you again.
