Label on Modbus slaves in graph view

On behave of customer.

The customer is monitoring a lot of Cooling units through a Modbus gateway on his Data Center Expert. When they run graphs they only see the IP adresses of the Modbus gateway, which makes it difficult to distinguish the Modbus slaves from each other.
What is the recommended way to label Modbus slave devices in graph view?
It doesn’t look like the custom properties label is shown in graph view. They are only shown when selecting the sensors for the report not in the report itself.
One way is to create a Virtual sensor for each of the slave devices, but are there other ways?
Thanks
Jesper

Hi Jesper,

You can go into the File->Client Preferences menu, select the "Custom Property Settings" configuration page and then select a custom property that will be appended to sensor values in the graph. Note that the custom property must be set on the sensor being graphed to show up (as opposed to setting the custom property on the Device).

Hope this helps,

Scott

Thanks Scott, I missed the fact that it was possible to assign a Custom Property to a sensor, but it unfortunately doesn't solve the customers problem entirely since I can't see the custom property on the graph itself. When I add a custom property to a sensor and go the reports is it easy to see the custom properties, but when I generate the actual report am I not able to see the custom properties. If I hover over the graph do I only see the parent IP and the slave address. The same on the small table below. It doesn't look like I have the option to add the Custom Property column. This is possible when viewing the data as table data, but not as a graph. Am I missing something ? Thanks Jesper

Did you change the setting under the File->Client Preferences->Custom Property Settings page called "Select a custom property to append to sensor label"?

Thanks that did the trick. I only added the Custom property to the sensor
