Hi,
ITA Web Client: I have noticed that the backup and Restore section has a notice of "Last Backup Failed" in it despite the backup files seemingly created ok. Each day a file is created with a similar filesize looking about right.
I obviously do not want to try restoring a backup without needing to but wondered why the notification appears and wonder if my backups are ok if I potentially need to use them in the future?
Thanks
N

Hi Nigel,
Many thanks for your time and providing the info.
A short update to share here, that the backup issue was disc space related (there was no space left on the device).
Kind regards,
Jef

Hello Nigel
We might need to see log files to see the exact cause.
On the short term, in the backups/restore view in the ITA Web UI, if you click backups settings, how are the settings defined?
For example on my server:
Backup Directory is set to /data/backup
Fail if not mounted remotely is unchecked
enable backup clean up is checked
number of days to keep each backup is set to 30
I'm curious if your backup directory is set to an external mount? If yes, is that external mount actually mounted, or is it perhaps full or near full?
We may need to see the platform.log file from your ITA server to know the exact cause.
Regards
Greg Sterling

Hi Nigel!
It is definitely something wrong with your backup,
From my experience, file size should grow each day, especially is make some changes in the system.
This fact that file size is the same day to day indicates that something happens with your storage and system can not create bigger file.
It is needed to analyze log as Greg mention.

Hi Nigel,
As Greg mentioned it might be related to your backup settings - I was able to reproduce this few days ago with similar backup failed notification:
if in Backup Settings I enabled the option 'Fail if not mounted remotely':
Kind regards,
Jef

Thanks Greg,
Our settings are:
Backup Directory is set to /data/backup
Fail if not mounted remotely is unchecked
enable backup clean up is unchecked
number of days to keep each backup is set to 30
I can provide logs if necessary.
I am unaware of the mount status.
Nigel
