Hi,
My customer has many IBM P Series devices. These devices are managed by servers that are called HMCs (see the link). Which type of discıvery in ITO should be used to discover these devices? Can we use SSH discovery? Which type of information can be seen after the discovery?
Thanks in advance

Hello Kaan
I'm assuming the server(s) are running AIX?
If yes, then you'll need to use SSH, SNMP will have to be enabled on the hosts for polling to work, and you'll need to deploy a script called viriditylisthw on each server.
For Solaris, HPUX and AIX, IT Optimize requires the use of a script called “viriditylisthw” to complete discovery. The script is a set of shell commands which outputs xml information which serves as input to IT Optimize during discovery. Polling for all Linux and Unix servers is completed using SNMP protocol.
The viriditylisthw script can be found on the IT Optimize server. It can be found in the
There are two methods to deploy the script to the customer solaris servers. Manually and automatically. Most customers choose the manual method, so here are the instructions.
Manual deployment:
Customer should copy the appropriate script from the
NOTE: There are currently no power profiles for Solaris (SPARC), AIX (Power-PC), and HPUX (PA-RISC) based servers.
SNMP. As mentioned SNMP on the AIX servers must also be enabled to poll the AIX host(s). The AIX host must have the perfagent.tools fileset installed. If this fileset is not installed on the AIX client, then the CPU data will be missing from SNMP. Its been my experiece this fileset is normally present if SNMP is installed.
