Is there a way to determine wich DDF file is used for certain device?

Hi Valentin,
With Modbus, you choose the DDF during discovery. With SNMP, it is chosen by the system during discovery based on the responses of that device. I do not believe there is anything that shows this relationship though. What is it exactly that you are trying to achieve or troubleshoot?

Hi Steve! Yes, I know how it works. Our customer required that we are notice names and versions of ddf files used for each monitored device in project documentation. I can try to guess it, based on model and manufacturer data, but I would like to have accurate information. Anyway, thank you for reply.

Hi Valentin,
There is no formal list. Most APC UPS units fall under the "APC SmartUPS" ddf. NON-APC UPS units would either have their own DDF or they may use the generic UPS MIB based DDF. Many others have specific DDFs and you can see which they are by the name. Again though, within the system you can not see the relationship specifically and there is nothing stating specifically what uses what DDF. If there is a device or 2 on which you have a specific question, I'll see what I can find.

Hi Steve! Thanks for your offer, but you can't help me. There are few PM820 power meters, connected via modbus in different time. And there are powerlogic_820 ddf and powerlogic_8xx_series ddf. DCE can use any of these files maybe some devices are connected with first file, some devices with second. I've try to find some relationships in DB dump from backup, but I cant find any.

Valentin,
AS I mentioned, I can see if there is something I can find out if for instance you had an SNMP UPS and were concerned with that. If I am reading your post correctly however, you're talking about:
few PM820 power meters, connected via modbus in different time. And there are powerlogic_820 ddf and powerlogic_8xx_series ddf.
If that is the case, are these not Modbus devices?. If so, these are not automatically chosen during discovery, they are manually chosen. Additionally, if you are looking for the DDF associated with a specific modbus device, go to the modbus scan settings in the device menu. You can see which DDF is being used for the modbus device in question:
You can not however change this unless you delete and re-discover the device.
