How to connect the inputs of a rack ATS to a breaker panel?

Hello,

A can't connect the inputs (power dependency) of a rack ATS to a breaker in a breaker panel. I can only connect to a rack PDU in the same rack.

This customer installed all ATS's in 2 extra racks.

The power supplies come from 2 breaker panels.

The outputs go to an extra rack PDU in each rack.

Workaround?

Hi Eduard,

By design rack ATS can only be connected to the possible two rack pdu's in the same rack, eg 1 pair of rack pdu's can connect only one downstream rack ATS.

Unfortunately no reasonable workaround to offer, I guess any workarounds may result additional "problem" (such as adding new device and/or incorrect power capacity calculations ...), sorry.

I had the same problem. I got round it by creating a receptacle in the server rack (e.g. a 16A IEC60309 socket, connected to the correct breaker on the panel) and then connecting the ATS to that receptacle. That way, you can have an ATS go straight back to the breaker panel without going through a PDU. You can do that in the rack's power properties page.

Hello. To be clear, you do not need to add a receptacle type to DCO, you should add a receptacle to the rack which contains the rack based ATS.

From the rack properties view click the power pane and the new button to create a rack based receptacle.

From the popup window you can define the rack based receptacle. The receptacle type is selected from the pull down list in this view. If proper receptacle type is missing then you'd need to use SOAP or curl to add the proper receptacle type to the below list per the procedure which had been pasted above.

Once created you'll see the rack based receptacles in the power dependency properties for the rack based ATS in the same rack.

I have many AP7732 and similar 2U rack mount ATS in my environments.  My work around has been as follows.  I have created a 1U 30A  PDU calling it a "Modified ATS"  I then stack two of them in a 2U space connecting one to a "A" feed PDU and the other to a "B" feed PDU in the rack that they exist.  This allows me to easily dedicate the power path.
