How do I send the "Critial Communications Error" emails to only select users and not all users?

Is there a way to send these emails to only select users? All our LDAP users are getting a copy of these emails, even non-administrators. I found this thread https://community.se.com/t5/EcoStruxure-IT-forum/bd-p/ecostruxure-it-forum that sort of hints that it is not possible but the last post said to ask here so I am.

Thanks in advance for your help

James

I am sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in however I asked the same thing (in the forum you found) and the response back was "It is working the way it was designed." Meaning, you can not change that.

I think that needs to change. Good Luck!

J

James, how about creating a separate DCE notification policy just for lost comms alarms?
Set an alert action where it will send to specific people for just
Remove Communication status from default or existing notification policy

Assign all device lost comm to that policy.

p.s You can also assign delay in the 'lost comm policy', e.g 5 mins etc, if you expect communication to return to normal during that period.

Got this from other expert, hope this helped.

Christopherus, Great thought however the Netbotz do not use the DCE Notification system in that way. It doesn't even show up in "Alarm Configuration". If I am wrong, please let me know. Regards, J

Hi John,

Any system level event or NetBotz lost comm event goes to all users that are configured with an e-mail in the system. Admins should get most of  the server stuff but if you're referring to a lost comm with a NetBotz device specifically, any user (local, LDAP, or AD) that has an e-mail associated with his login and has access to view the NetBotz device in DCE will get these e-mails.

This is indeed working as designed but there is also a plan to change this design for future releases. It's worked this way since NetBotz Central. This change should be in DCE 8 but I can not say if it may make it in any sooner.

Steve
