Dear Craig,
configuring a new PDU is best done with a supplied serial COM cable and login with putty.
commands can be found in the documentation, or type help in as command.
After configuration, you can just connect the PDU with a CAT5e or higher,
on a switch of your choice

All the information to configure a PDU on the network is detailed in KBase FA156064. The cable information is also available on the KBase. link to get to this KBase is below:

There is also information in the manuals, available on apc.com for the particular PDU you have. For example, if the PDU is the AP88xx range, the manual is below:
