Mac Addresses tend to change after migration especially when a clone is migrated and turned up, however can this servers be migrated and still keep the mac address and license information? Or if the mac address is manually configure, Does it automatically reference to the license if the mac address is manually configured?

Hi Olatoyese,
The question is more on VM technology itself.i.e how a VM's mac address behaved when it is moved versus copied.
For VMware,what i understand,if you do a vmotion,mac address does not change.
if you copy the VM,i.e cloned the vm and select 'i copied' when prompted by vmware, the vm mac address changed.
Lastly,I usually set manual mac address,i.e 00:50:56:xx:xx:xx for ease of tracking& management.

Very true Chris, however if i have a manual address and i have the vm migrated, does assigning the exact mac address to the server still gives the server the license details?

Before you ever switch on the migrated vm,then yes,you can adjust the vm mac address to be the same as original vm mac address. The dce can still detect the license against the correct mac address.
If you already power on the migrated dce vm with different mac address than its original, then no,its too late. You'll have error message indicating mismatch of mac address in the dce console.
This is just my habit,backup/snapshot before doing anything:)
