Fail to "Apply Firmware Udaptes..." via DCE

Hi,

could you please help me to know for which reason "Apply Firmware Udaptes..." does not work via DCE?

error message: "Failed to update device: unable to transfer AOS 6.2.0."

more info:

DCE version 7.2.6

"StruxureWareDataCenterExpertFWCatalog.zip" loaded in DCE manually

Perhaps some trick/suggestion for "Device File Transfer Settings" ?

Thx&Brgds,

Massimo

Hi Massimo,

Like Scott stated, DCE uses either FTP or SCP to transfer the upgrade files from the DCE server to the network management card. Being that FTP/SCP is an administrator privilege, DCE would require the Administrator account credentials.  I would recommend the following

  1. Verify that the Network Management Card(NMC) has FTP enabled
  2. Verify that you can FTP to the NMC via a command line from your PC
  3. Verify that DCE has the correct credentials. Please follow the path below to ensure credentials
    1. from within the DCE client, click on the Device drop down menu
    2. hoover the mouse of SNMP Device Communication Settings
    3. select Device File Transfer Settings. Within this window you will find all the credentials DCE will use to transfer a file from the appliance to the NMC.

Please let me know how you make out.

Thank You

Victor

Hi Massimo, have you logged into the device and ensured that the FTP server is enabled? There also could be a firewall issue somewhere between DCE and the device on the specified port. By chance have you used the "APC SNMP Device Configuration" mechanism between DCE and this device or others on the same segment? The configuration mechanism also uses FTP and could rule out some of the issues that could cause what you're seeing.

Hi Victor thanks for your input.

I've tried to enable FTP on NMCs and it worked only in one case ...

Do you have more suggestion about this ?

Brgds,

Massimo.
