Hi All,
We are having an issue with all our Eaton 5PX models not sending any alarms besides the communication alarm when the units go down.
We downloaded the recommended DDF file, however, we are still having issues with receiving any alarms.
Please advise.
Thanks

Hi @alec5valenzuela,
To get the fastest response and the most thorough troubleshooting, you might want to submit a support request for help with this.

Hi @alec5valenzuela ,
Not all 3rd party devices support device alarms configured right out of the box. Most of them require that you manually configure thresholds. In DCE, go to "Alarm Configuration" then select the device in question. Then, to the right, click "Device Alarm Configurations". Do you see the alarms there that you expect to see in an e-mail?
Also, I'd be curious as to how long the event took. Was the device in alarm for 30 seconds or did it last for 2 hours? What is the polling cycle for this device, is it set to 1 minute or is it set to use default and what IS the default. 3rd party devices only alert in DCE after the event occurs and they are then scanned. So in an instance where the scan interval is say 10 minutes and DCE just scanned the device and then you have a 30 second event, DCE will not catch that event.
Thanks,
Steve

Hey Steve,
Thanks for the reply, looks like we have all device alarms for this UPS active (battery, bypass, communication, device, humidity, etc...).
For your curiosity, an example, one of our UPS units went down and went on battery for about 9 minutes, and we were not notified that it went on battery. A month later, it went on battery again but for about 40 minutes and were not notified for this event either.
Thanks,
Alec

for the on battery alarm specifically, it may be best to configure a threshold alarm for UPS output state "on battery" assuming it supports it. Regarding the rest of the alarms, I agree with JLehr, that it may be best to open a support request / work with the DDF team regarding this. As APC_Steve mentioned, 3rd party device alarms are limited by their polling interval so the alarm has to be active during it (which it sounds like it is)
If you work with the DDF team, send them the device SNMP mib and an snmp walk when the UPS is in this alarm state.
