Hi Team,
Kindly advice how well I can monitor dry contact devices especially if there are huge number of them in one room mostly UPS, Cooling Units & Automatic Transfer Switches. Should I buy more NetBotz appliances or use the universal sensor ports on the sensor pods which I have read support sensors such as motion detectors, moisture detectors, or glass-break detectors.
Regards,
Felix

Hi Felix!
It's depend of number of dry contacts and Netbotz equipment you already have.
I recommend you to see at NetBotz Rack Monitor 200 (NBRK0200) + Sensor Pod 150 (NBPD0150 ) + Netbotz Dry Contact Cable (NBES0304).

I have had four sensors of the same type attached to the same analog sensor pod input. That gave me a generic alert. If you are talking large numbers of sensors then i believe the appropriate route would be to buy APC NetBotz 4-20mA Sensor Pod's which then connect to the rack mount netbotz appliance. That would allow you to customize the alert to match each given sensor.

Felix, the two solutions above would definitely work; for high density dry contact monitoring you can also leverage a sealevel device which is supported by Netbotz V2 and V3 devices (400 series and 500 series). Here is some information on the sealevel device for high density dry contact monitoring. You can find the company at www.sealevel.com and it would probably be good to call them first if you'd like to utilize this solution:
Hi-Density Dry Contact Monitoring –
The external sensor ports on NetBotz monitoring appliances and Sensor Pods support dry contact sensors. In applications where customers need to connect a few dry contact sensors, the external sensor ports are a good solution. However, some applications require connecting large numbers of dry contact sensors to a NetBotz appliance. In these cases, using the SeaI/O-462U USB to 96 Channel TTL Digital Interface is a more cost-effective solution.
The products the customer will need to purchase from SeaLevel Systems (www.sealevel.com) are:
SeaI/O-462UUSBto 96 Channel TTL Digital Interface
http://www.sealevel.com/product_detail.asp?product_id=859&USB%5FDigital%5FModbus%5FRTU%5F
DB78 to Ribbon Cable (48 connections) – Item# CA237
http://www.sealevel.com/product_detail.asp?product_id=881&%5F
Terminal Block Kit (each provides 24 connections) – Item# TB07-KT
Power Supply
U.S.: http://www.sealevel.com/product_detail.asp?product_id=795&%5F
International: http://www.sealevel.com/product_detail.asp?product_id=792
The SeaI/O-462U connects to the NetBotz 500 or 420 via aUSBcable (included with the 462U). The DB78 to Ribbon Cable connects the SeaI/O-462U to the Terminal Block Kit.
Up to 2 SeaI/O-462Us can be connected to a NetBotz 500, and 1 SeaI/O-462U is supported on a NetBotz 420.
Note that all ports are configured as inputs when a SeaI/O-462U is connected to a NetBotz appliance (the 462U does have the capability to generate output signals, but this is not supported by the NetBotz appliance).
Note that NetBotz also supports the SealevelPIO-48 (Item# 8203) for customers who need high-density dry contact inputs.

Hi Felix, the 462U is supported on the 570 and 450. The above text is the best write-up I have but essentially you need on 462U, on DB78 ribbon cable for every 48 dry contacts, and one terminal block for every 24 dry contacts (and a power supply). The 462U plugs directly into the netbotz appliance via USB, the DB78 cable plugs one end into the 462U and has two connections for a terminal block. The terminal blocks offer 24 form C relays (dry contact), I believe you use A, B, and C (8 on each). For support on the Sealevel device, I would recommend an email or call to Sealevel. For help in configuring the Sealevel once connected to Netbotz, I would all into Netbotz support. Sealevel is described in the Netbotz user manual for the two above appliances. Hope this helps
