HI everyone!
Do we have some guidelines about backround images for DCO?
Now I'm working on project where I plan to use background images for floor plans. So I need to set some image dimensions in order to combine background with rooms outline. I tired to try different sizes one by one, it takes so many time...
Anybody know how many pixels (or something else) placed in 1 m of wall for example?
What dimensions should have background image for 5x10 m room?

Hi Valentin Kozlov
I would recommend using CAD drawings (*.DWG) as your background images. If your DWG file have units specified, then it would be correctly scaled and you would not have to do the guesswork.
Also, from DWG elements you can recognise walls, rooms and cages. You can watch tis video about DWG drawings: How to model data center from CAD drawing
I'f you don't have CAD drawings, for example, when only paper plans of old building available, I would recommend playing with dpi, instead of pixel size.

Thank you Stas! I know how it works with CAD, but i have only pdf files, unfortunately. Now I'm convert pdf to bitmap with different dpi and then trying it. But this game takes too much time. I hope that there is some known relation between background image and DCO objects.

Were there any solutions for this? I have some floors that I only have Visio or image files for. So when I use an image file I can't modify the room size from the floor view while in design mode like I can for the floors that have a CAD (.dwg) file. Having a scale tool that you can measure a known distance like a door or wall on the drawing would be ideal for image based backgrounds. Using something like the measure tool and allowing you to override the measurement to set the scale could work well. So if a wall you measure shows 45'10" and it's really 32'6" you can enter the updated measurement to update the scale automatically.
