DCO 8.0.1 : Excel load for blades - strange behaviour - Case 33764468

I have 172 rooms to migrate from OpenDCIM to DCO 8.0.1, many of these rooms have blades.  The Excel asset load initial check is showing errors even though a manual replication of the Excel row works fine.   And when I load the file, sometimes blades are mounted into different slots.  I've logged this case.  Details in the attached Word doc Strange Excel import behaviour.docx

Anyone found issues with Excel load of blades?  Found it worked fine?  Can spot any mistake?    Has any tips or tricks?

Thanks

Ed

I can see that names of modules contain the space, e.g. "DC1COFS01-A SL1".  Perhaps try to replace spaces e.g. with the sign of the underline "DC1COFS01-A_SL1"?

I don't think spaces is the issue as other blades, with spaces in their names, loaded to chassis with spaces in their names. Did you experience the same problem in the past and found the removal of spaces fixed it?

I apologise, if my advice didn't help you, but I didn't import data to the DCO system, though in other systems I'v had problems with strings of signs in which the space was happened.

Hi Ed, Could you share a copy of the backup? I checked with our Experts and they would like to have a copy of the backup to do some tests. Thanks, John

Hi Ed,

I have been working on this case and I believe the issue you have experienced seems to be basically related to equipment/excel importer blade slot numbering. Let's have a look at an enclosure that can support both half and full width blades:

Apparently "Equipment importer" would 'recognize' the slot numbering (for blades) as illustrated, that is regardless of how the enclosure might be configured - see for example slot numbering for the illustrated enclosures with "Half and Full Width" and "Full Width" bay type.

In the following example, I will try to import 3 full width and 3 half width blades into an enclosure configured with "Half and Full Width" Bay type:

The above illustration contains small snip of my excel file (to show my blade Slot numbers), successful "Import steps" notification" and then the result of my import into DCO.

However, as mentioned earlier apparently the blade slot numbering (for excel importer) seems to be fixed/hard-coded and might not work properly for importing of "Full Width" blade types. (In my example attempt to import additional full width bay to slot 13, 15, etc, did not work.) I will create an enhancement report for this.

Hope this helps,

Kind regards
