Hello,
I have read a few things saying DCE/DCO is compatible with Cisco Energywise (Cisco Energy Management) but can't see anything on this site detailing it. I was looking to bring back power usage stats as is done via IPMI on servers for ITO.
If this is possible is their any documentation on how to do it?

Hi James,
You are right there is no documentation on this site.
I'm not the expert in this but I have found some documentation on the integration on Ciscos site (there are some tabs around the middle of the page that holds Features, Resources and others: https://marketplace.cisco.com/catalog/products/3547
I'm not sure if this is the integration you are referring to?
It also seems like the Cisco Energywise system could communicate using SNMP. However I'm not sure what information would be available here: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/solutions/Enterprise/Borderless_Networks/Energy_Management/ener...
That could potentially also be integrated into the DCE server. However again I'm not sure what so ever would be possible here.

Hi James,
I do know our new PDUs have in integration with Energywise. Check out page 5 of the manual for the AP8962 (I just picked one at random):
http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/MLAN-9F8QVU/MLAN-9F8QVU_R0_EN.pdf?sdirect=true
I'll defer to Soren for the DCO aspect of things but for DCE, I know of no way to specifically integrate energywise. We do have a web API but I do not see in any of the energywise documentation where it supports this nor do we provide any specific plugin. The API would be the only way to get info for the devices DCE is monitoring.
As for protocols such as IPMI, some of our hardware servers support this and some do not. We also have a DCE VM option and in this case, IPMI would not be an option.
DCE does have an SNMP output option but I am unsure if there is enough information for energywise and the output is, as is the case with IPMI, specific to the server and not any of the nodes.
You mentioned you read a few things stating DCE or DCO was compatible. If you can post those links, I could have a look and provide any extra info I can.

Søren/Steven,
What I was looking to do was pull back power stats from a Cisco switch, 2000 series, just as is done with a server via IPMI on ITO. Maybe this is possible by just putting in the IPMI details in the DCO discoveries tab?
But I I had see some promo material from APC about integrating to Energywise and thought that would be a more complete way of bringing back the power stats from all Cisco devices
http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/KTRY-7WLPEM/KTRY-7WLPEM_R1_EN.pdf

As with what Søren has said it seems that additional hardware needs to be purchased, I had hoped that wasn't the case and it could be done via IP.
It is says this on the Intel DCM manual that I have;
Any ideas on how this would work?

Hi James, Sorry for not getting back any sooner. This is stil being investigated. In regards to your latest comment on intel DCM there is support from Intel DCM on this. However since this functionality is supported from the SNMP protocol via Intel DCM and the integration we have done with this module is currently only using the IPMI protocol the support is not there. I will log this as a possible feature enhancement on the IT Optimize module. The documentation that is referenced is not referring to this integration but a different type of integration directly with the Cisco equipment via a gateway (as I understand it).

Hi James,
I see also where it says:
• Schneider Electric StruxureWare Data Center Expert Basic, Standard or Enterprise version 5.1 or greater;
• TAC Andover Continuum
• Cisco Catalyst ® switches 2xxx and 3xxx Series with EnergyWise technology installed
I'm checking to see if there are any configuration details that I can find.
