Having difficulty getting APC devices (UPS with 9619 card) to automatically open the NM cards web page.... device discovery works fine, no errors or alerts. Populating the device launch settings goes ok, but still when i double click the device from the Device View monitoring pane i still get the login pop up...

Right click on the UPS in question while in the DCE Client choose "device launch settings" and then double check your selections for all 4 configuration options that they are as you need.

Are you using https ? I have heard/seen this happen when different networks are traversed.

Yes I am using HTTPS , it always worked fine with our older ISX managers and now I am just starting to migrate to DCE from that platform. ...and yes i have made sure that the checkbox for "Use the Internal Web browser when launching to devices" is checked , under Client Preferences. This seems to only affect ups with 9617 or 9619 management cards, as the newer 9631 (NMC2) launch correctly.
WHen i double click them i get the "Security alert........there is a problem with this site's security certificate....do you want to proceed" ... i get the login pop up after i click yes.
Is there a security certificate entry / creation process i need to go through with the DCE client or server to accept the ups's certificates globally ?
Or,
My desktop (client pC) is logged in to our corporate network via VPN would that have anything to do with it ?

That is great information but I personally don't have the answer as I currently don't have that issue (all of my devices are on a private network (the same as our DCE) so knowing that I'll be watching for insight as well on the remedy because that may be changing in the near future for our system as we start monitoring other locations and have to traverse the different networks etc.

I should probably switch away from using HTTPS , all my UPS (300 plus) are on a private network behind firewalls, etc and https slows down access to the cards/ups quite badly anyways.... would likely solve this login issue i bet.
