Hello,
I would like to ask you for advice on this painful issue. The issue has been described here already twice but without successful fix. Below you will find short description how the issue occurs in our organisation that I posted to one of the topics regarding DCE client connection drop: , however, due to lack of response I decided to create a new topic.
"On the initial install DCE client did not drop the connection to the DCE Server, however since version 7.2.6 and 7.2.7 we experience this issue on several machines in different network locations. One of the affected machines is connected directly to the DCIM network hence, ports problem is out of the discussion. The issue appears randomly during the day but usually no more than twice. Thanks to Breda response (here) I have find out about the place where DCE Client stores log files, unfortunately I am unable to find there one specific cause for the connection problems therefore I would like to ask you for help in error analysis of this log and point me where to look for solution to this permanent problem. I have uploaded the client log (here and dcim.log) from two PCs which are located in two different networks."
Best regards,
Krzysztof

Hi Krzysztof ,
Can you give me the time(s) of the disconnected client on the system the logs were retrieved from? Just seeing errors does not specific mean the client crashed or lost communications and I would like to be able to correlate the event with a specific logged event. If we ca see a pattern, we may be able to gain insite wih this info.
As for the actual events, you noted that initially, it was only 1 system exhibiting this issue. Upon updating the server and console software, it appears to be spreading. Just the fact that it was happening on one system leads me to believe the initial issue could have been due to software or configuration on that system. Newer issues seem to lead away from that but we can't disregard that totally.
Is this a hardware server or VM? Do you have the mac address? If it's hardware, I would like you to try something if possible. Start with a fresh Windows install on a laptop. Do not install antivirus or anything. Put this laptop on the DCE private LAN and install only the DCE client. Does this system also exhibit this behavior? If you can't get a totally fresh Windows install, perhaps still a system on the private LAN booted into safe mode with network support. I would like to see everything else that could be conflicting with the DCE console app turned off.
If you can't do that, can you make a test network? Set up a VM and a client computer. Does this 2 computer network lose comm?

Thanks, I'll see what I can find / figure out about this error. Any testing you can do for isolation purposes as I had mentioned will still be very helpful though. Steve

Hello Steve.
Can you update me on the outcome of this issue as I think I may have it as well.
What seems to happen is when VM Disk Consolidation occurs, comms are reset & users are dropped. We are running DCE 7.4.2 & our client PC sits in the same Network as the DCE VM. Prior to this problem, our DCE was randomly freezing/locking up/ being unresponsive & you could not log in. A Software or VM reboot was required to return its functionality. Our VM Support staff ran some config as they believe that the VM Disk Consolidation was failing & the config was meant to fix this issue. It did but we then got the new issue of comms/users dropping & in its worse case, our back up fails as comms are reset. A new issue of random reboots started as well when the VM Disk Consolidation was occuring. We have now turned off all VM monitoring which stopped the users being kicked out but the DCE being unresponsive later in the night & again required a reboot.
Can you assist?

Hi Jeff,
There are no known issues here. Krzysztof initially posted and I made a few suggestion and asked for info. I don't see any feedback from that. Since this isn't something I can replicate here, I'll have to take each issue on it's own merits and troubleshoot them individually.
If comm issues occur during disk consolidation, then the VM may be part of the issue there. If running a backup is causing issues, it could be due to network traffic on a shared NIC, it could be partially due to the system's workload, and system resources, especially on a VM, can have a large effect.
Numbers of users generally don't effect comm that much unless there's a lot of HTTP traffic and then it's usually a slowdown and not erring out the console. We can work on this over the forums here but I suggest creating a new post rather than piggybacking on this older one. Additionally, if you'e looking for a faster resolution, calling in to tech support will always be much faster and questions that are asked and answered in days on the forum can be handled in minutes over the phone.

Dear Steven,
It happened that the issue just occurred. What I have noticed in the log is when the DCE Client starts it creates the following entry:
!ENTRY com.apc.isxc.logging 1 0 2015-09-17 08:52:15.816 !MESSAGE Starting Data Center Expert Client
But when this error occurs it displays this:

Hi all!
At the moment I can confirm that above the specified problem isn't solved.
My configuration: the physical AP9465 server with DCE-7.4.2, the physical client PC with Windows 7 OS. Both devices are in different subnets of corporate network.
Very thanks for the support.

Hi Spezialist,
I don't see where in the initial post / reply that any testing I suggested was done.
Since this is a hardware server, please connect a laptop to the private LAN. As suggested, maybe try safe mode with network support.
Have you tried that laptop with no antivirus and a fresh install of Windows? At least a system that can connect to another DCE server of the same version with no issue.
How long is the system connected before the failure is exhibited?
Are all the clients disconnecting at the same time?
Can you correlate the issue with opening any specific window or looking at a specific device?
How many clients are connecting at the same time?
Perhaps you can get the server logs from http://
Have you worked directly with your local tech support on this over the phone? If so, do yo uhave a case number.
Steve
