Hello All,
My client has DCE version 7.2.5. He mentioned that he can not use DCE client at a client that has windows 8 installed. Does DCE client support windows 8? if not what is the workaround?
Thanks in advance.

They can not see the cameras on the client. I am planning to perform an upgrade to solve the problem.
Thanks

Hello Kaan,
There are issues with the DCE 7.2.5 or lower and Windows 8 workstations. What is the exact issues that the customer is experiencing? Has the customer tried to launch the client using the "run as administrator" option? Does that clear up the concerns that they have experiencing? The other recommendation would be to upgrade DCE to the latest code because 7.2.6 and higher have been tested on Windows 8, where has anything lower then 7.2.5 has not been tested.

Kaan, That is an issue that we have seen below. Below is a snip it of a knowledge base article that is hosted on apc.com which handles the exact issue your customer is experiencing. Issue The camera thumbnails are blacked out in the Surveillance perspective Thumbnails view of the StruxureWare Data Center Expert 7.x client on Windows 8.x. Note: Users can launch the live feed, and retrieve and view clips, as expected. Product Line StruxureWare Data Center Expert Environment Microsoft Windows 8.x StruxureWare Data Center Expert 7.x client Cause The DCE client does not load the camera thumbnails because it does not recognize the Windows 8.x jpeg_decoder. Resolution It is recommended Windows 8.x users run the DCE client in Compatibility Mode. This is scheduled to be fixed in DCE 7.2.6
