Hi,
We have a client where we have added users using AD authentication and if there is a change in the password in AD it is not automatically recognized by DCE 7.3.1 and the users cannot login.
Is it because the bind user changed his old password and so do we need to manually change the new password in DCE (editing AD authentication page) and then all the other users will be to login automatically with their new passwords?
Please advise a solution for this.
Thanks
Shemil

Hi shemilusman,
DCE does not automatically synchronise with the AD server.
So, if you do make a change in AD, you need to make the same change in DCE to reflect this.

...or even better, create a user for the bind whose password does not expire.

Hi Steven,
I think the below scenario should work:
We will have User-1 as the bind user, who also adds User-2 & User-3 from AD to DCE.
In case all the 3 users password changes in AD, I will only have to update User-1 manually in DCE (since he is the bind user) and user-2 & user-3 new passwords will be automatically identified while login.
please confirm and I will also ask my client to test it.
Thanks & Regards

Hi Shemil,
Yes, Once the bind user can access AD, it will allow DCE to access the users and use their current passwords. Again, this will require a login to DCE every 90 days or so (generic password change time) and force the person to change the bind password. I suggest creating a specific bind user for this process whose password never expires.
