hello,
I have such kind of Alert when I try to connect to my DCO from StruxureWare Portal:
"The following error was encountered while reading data for this portlet:
Connection timed out: connect
Contact your local support representative."
Sometimes it works fine but mostly I have above mentioned problem.
What could be a reason of this problem? What should I do?
regards

Hi Krzystof, It seems like the connection from the Portal server to the DCO server is timing out. Could there have been any updates in terms of network connection between the two? One thing that could be done from the Portal server (not the client PC but on the actual Portal server) is to make sure there is a continues connection (to DCO). Hope this helps, Kind regards

hi, Unfortunately, I don't have any info about updates in terms of netwrok connections between DCO and Portal server. In my case I have installed Portal on my own computer and I have tried to connect from it to DCO server. On the other hand there is still a continues connection to DCO from my computer.

Hi Krzysztof,
Many thanks for the clarification. Would you mind to share the hardware spec of your computer?
StruxureWare Portal usually would be installed on a "dedicated" server, so in your case assuming there are no network related issues, then perhaps (I'm only guessing) there other applications (running on your computer) competing with the resources and possibly interrupting the communication between your Portal and DCO.
If you wish I can also take a look at your logs - following page describes how to collect the log files: http://dcimsupport.apc.com/questions/105458527/how-to-collect-struxureware-portal-server-logs Kind regards

Ok, now I have a connection to our DCO server from Portal installed on my computer. There were some issues connected with our internal network. There is no previous Alert with connection problem but still showing portlets is very difficult. For example when I put one portlet with capacity overwiew I can see these data but after adding another portlet with network capacity there is no data showed on the screen. Sometimes I can see only one portlet filled with data and the second one is empty. How can I check if the single data portlet has connection with DCO or it is still waiting for receiving data? There is no any indicators or info about it on my screen. How many portlets I can place on one page?

Hi Krzysztof, I don't think there are any limits on how many portlets there can be added on one page. However, the StruxureWare Portal should be installed on a dedicated computer, for a minimum system requirements you might want to visit the following page: http://dcimsupport.apc.com/display/Portal/System+Requirements If a DCO portlet doesn't display any error messages then it is expected to have connection with DCO. But concerning an empty portlet, I guess either not configured properly or perhaps it contains no available data, assuming that the minimum system requirements are fulfilled. Hope this helps Kind regards

hi, hardware spec of mu computer is shown above: processor - intel core(TM) i5-4300M CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.60GHz RAM: 8 GB OS: WIN7 SP1 (64-bit) So, I suppose that my computer meets with minimum system requirements for StruxureWare Portal. Is there any tool to test connection (speed and quality) between DCO and Portal? It would help in finding out what is wrong or where could be a possible problem. regards

Hi Krzysztof, Perhaps the Portal log files might contain some useful information - the following page describes how to collect the Portal server logs: http://dcimsupport.apc.com/questions/105458527/how-to-collect-struxureware-portal-server-logs I can take a look at the log files, if you could kindly share them with me - I will send you an invite to my =S= box shortly. I would also need more details about the portlets you are having issues with, screen captures illustrating the issue (and configuration) would be really appreciated, thanks. Kind regards

hello,
after few tries and changes of configurations portlets are visible.
I have changed a view in Portal from StruxureWare Portal Public to StruxureWare Portal Private in GO TO menu. It helped. But still I don't know is it a normal situation and why I need to use this option to see my portlets?

I have another questions according to portlets from DCO. I want to receive information from DCO about assets in my server room. Is it possible to show it in Portal? Because I couldn't find such kind of portlet. Also number of rack cabinets i really important for me. Another question - are there any other predefined portlets availlable? Can I add them to my Portal server? And at last can I create my own portlet containing customized information about my DC (of course information contained in DCO)?

Hi Krzysztof, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but as far as I know the available/supported portlets are already included in Portal. The description of available portlets are listed here: http://dcimsupport.apc.com/display/Portal/Portlet+data+sources Kind regards
