Combine DCO 8.0.3 Servers for DR

Hello,

I have a customer who would like to combine two Data Center 8.0.3 servers into a single entity. The customer would then like to create a DR Cluster or Node for the combined server.

My questions are:

  1. Is it possible to combine two  DCO 8.0.3 servers into a single entity.
  2. When creating the cluster will we have one DCO 8.0.3 server configured and installed as a "standalone" installation and then the other DR 8.0.3 servers installed as "cluster", or do we need to do two new installations using the "cluster" option during installation.

The reason I ask is that I was hoping to use the configuration listed below to accomplish what the customer is asking. I noticed this option stated we would have a "standalone" node and then the DR node. Basically, I am asking if I can leave the stand alone server alone, stand up a DR node using the cluster option, and then just configure the webmin setting and Virtual IP to get this done.

  • 1 standalone node + 1 DR node (requires 1 high availability license)

Thanks in advance for any reply.

Hi Brian,

By combining the two data center servers, I assume we are talking about combining two different solutions running on two different DCO servers. Then yes, that is possible - we can use the migration feature in DCO to migrate a solution (backup file) from another setup. In DCO client, System Setup > Migrate from StruxtureWare Operation :

Let's imagine we have/had a "setup1" running on this server, and then we have used the migration feature to migrate the latest backup file from "setup2".  (standalone node)

Now we can attach this "standalone node" to a DR node.

(DR node basically installed as standalone).

So, I guess that could be the final setup, namely:

1 standalone server (operational DCO) + 1 DR node (requires 1 high availability license)

Kind regards

Hi Jef, How many HA availability licenses required in the following requirement?

2 Cluster node

1 DR

does 1 qty of DCO HA license sufficient for the above requirement or does the Customer need to purchase three qty of DCO HA license(1 for DR & 2 for 2 qty of cluster nodes)?

Hi Bala,

In the above example a cluster setup with DR, we would need two High Availability licenses (1 for the cluster itself, and 1 for the DR node).

Kind regards
