Colo rack count not counting inside cages..

Another issue that seems to me is a fault? In the Colo overlay we see the racks counted properly, but then when the racks are located inside a cage area they are not counted anymore..

Is there another way to activate what's displayed in this counter?

Hey Chris,

Can you check whether the racks r1R2 & r1R3 customer's(tenant) assignment is the default, assigned to the tenant that own cage C-C5?

Next check who owns cage C-C5, is that internal, or external customer?

Still those numbers should be reflected accordingly.

Rack r1R1 does not seems to be practical in real life though.

i.e a rack that belongs to tenant CommBus, but is located within cage that belongs to other tenant.

The example previously pictured does not have any customer accounts sorry so I have switched to an example from the 8.1.0 offline demo.

So here is a recreation of the original, plus then setting a customer to the cage. All racks are set to inherit customer. Issue remains??

This is by design. Cages takes priority over racks. This is basically to support a mix of two different co-location business models:

Model 1: Rack based co-location

Customers rents a number of racks.

Model 2: Cage based co-location.

Customers rents a number of square meters - and put their own equipment inside the cages. 

The co-lo overlay tracks open, closed, reserved, internal state across racks and cages. The rack section tracks freestanding racks (outside cages) where as the floorspace section tracks the footprint of the cages as well as the freestanding racks.

If a rack is inside a cage then it is assumed to belong to that cage and is thus not counted as a free-standing rack any more.

Did you encounter a situation, where you are unable to model how racks and cages are rented to customers?
