Hi guys,
Does anyone know of a setting or other method by which the DCE 7.4.x client 'Device Groups' view can be returned to its former default display mode? As of version 7.4 (and possibly earlier, we upgraded from 7.2 through 7.3 without stopping to poke around much) the behavior changed. Where before whether a group was expanded or collapsed seemed to be retained between sessions (OR the menu tree was only expanded to a certain depth), by 7.4 the entire menu tree is completely expanded by default regardless of its condition when exiting the client. This is particularly painful when attempting to find a specific sub-sub-sub group in a huge number of groups divided up by various categories (location, purpose, etc.). I've hunted for a reset to default or similar setting, scoured the community (including the ubiquitous search engine), and even tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling the client, to no avail.
Any help/suggestions would be most appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi Justin,
What you're seeing is the default configuration. There is no way through the UI to change this. You can however edit a preferences file and that should help you a bit. It's default behavior will now be for all groups to not be expanded.
Browse your local system where the client is installed. The path would look something like this (assuming your login were "Justin":
C:\Users\Justin\.isxc\7.4.1\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.core.runtime\.settings
This is also assuming the current version is 7.4.1
Once to this folder, find the file "org.eclipse.ui.prefs"
Edit this file in a text editor such as Notepad or Notepad ++
Add the following line:
"DeviceGroups_DontExpand=true"
without the quotes.
Reboot the DCE client.
Thanks,
Steve

Hi Justin Brown,
And tried to make here so: in DCE client enter in menu "Window -> Restore Default Screen Layout"?
Very thanks for the support.

This is exactly what I was looking for. It'd be keen if secrets like these were documented somewhere (hint hint wink wink nod nod). It'd be even more keen if the UI had some hooks into making these sort of changes. But in any case this helps a lot, thanks!
