Have a somewhat corrupted physical DCE running 7.2.2.
We have managed to get a low level backup, but we are unable to backup using the client going forward.
Wanting to use the Trial VM and restore ISO to check that the low level backup can be restored... VM (7.5.0 does not seem to be booting from the restore ISO...
TIA

GarethAyres,
If you reach out to technical support you can obtain a copy of the DCE 7.2.2 VM trial (OVA), which you can deploy and then bring in a back up from the physical server.
NOTE: This trial will be limited to 5 nodes, but it will at least all you to see if your backup can be restored. Also, you can not restore a virtual appliance backup onto the physical appliance. You can take a physical backup and restore it to a virtual appliance or a physical appliance, pending they are running the same version.
Kind Regards,
Cory

Dear GarethAyres,
Unfortunately, this can not be done ☹️.
Therefore, I recommend that you deploy your low level backup copy of DCE-7.2.2 to your repaired physical DCE server (this is the DELL server), if possible. The main thing at this stage is the MAC addresses of your repaired DELL server, to which your DCE software is tied.
If the above recommendations help you, then you can later make the correct full backup of your DCE software and then deploy it to VMware VM DCE-7.2.2 (with replacing licenses due to the replacement of MAC addresses).
In any case, it is very important to make regular backups of the DCE server.
If you have any more questions, please ask.
With respect.
