Can I reduce /home and add that space to root file system? I have tried via cmd line and then the DCO desktop client shows that the server is not starting up.

I would like to decrease /home by 10G and add that space to root file system as root is filling up.  Eventually I am going to upgrade DCO and change from a cluster install to disaster recovery but was looking for a quick fix now.  I attempted the resize the file systems via command line and all looked good and servers rebooted.  However, when I try to bring up the DCO client it states that the DCO server is in the process of starting or is down.  Can this be done?

Hello Krista.

Were the filesystems on your redhat server provisioned with logical volume manager? and is your DCO server a virtual machine (i.e. VMware guest of some kind)? If yes, be easier to add a small harddisk to the guest and expand the root filesystem.

I do not think we offer a supported procedure for shrinking the /home filesystem although I do see a number of procedures for redhat when I search online. Most of the procedures I see require /home to be unmounted and since DCO has at least one user account which uses /home this means you'd have to take DCO offline.

Assuming you're using LVM, is adding a disk an option for you?

I ended up just adding a new disk and extending it that way.  The application is actually up and running!  Thanks for your input.
