Hi!
In working on a DCO configuration, I found that I am unable to add rackmounted devices to "each rack in room" or "selected racks" in DCO. In this case, I'm specifically trying to install 2 rack ATSes into most racks in a room using the "selected racks" feature, and am not able to. I also appear to be unable to copy and paste more than one ATS at a time.
DCO 8.2.7.
Any help is appreciated!

I can confirm the behavior as well. Perhaps this is a bug.

Thanks for checking it out Greg. There may be a reason for this, but perhaps our dev team could take a look and log a bug report if appropriate.

Hi Greg,
I thought I found something of a workaround, and it turns out that workaround causes DCO to crash when saving as well.
I created a device category in the genome and put two identical rack ATSes in it. I was then able to drag that category into a rack and it would place two rATSes in the rack with one action, which I thought would save me some time.
As it turns out, if you create a device category with multiple identical (or near identical - I changed the name slightly and had the same issue) devices and try and save, the DCO client will crash, lose any changes, and restart.
I'll email you a screenshot as I'm getting an error when trying to attach it here.

Hi Jeff,
Asset Provisioning is basically designed to recommend the best location for a server in the rack layout. I don't think it is designed to be used for other items such as rack pdus and definitely not for rack ats usage.
In general we can only add one rack mounted item to a rack at a time, so adding multiple devices in one go (to a rack) is unsupported.
We can only copy one rack-mounted item at a time (to Clipboard), copying some random rack ats and then dragging them to a rack (from Clipboard) worked for me without any problem.
Please also notice that only one rack ats can/may be connected to pair of the rack pdus (in the rack).
Kind regards

Hi Jef,
While the primary purpose of asset provisioning is absolutely for finding the best place to install a piece of equipment, what other purpose would the "Each rack in room" or "Selected racks" options serve other than mass deployment of rack mounted equipment?
In our services group, we frequently use the tool for mass deployment of rack pdus in new configurations (for 0u pdus, we just change the mounting to rear right OR rear left, add to selected racks, then change mounting to the other side and repeat). Without this ability, our configuration services would take far longer.
I am able to add a single 1U rackmount PDU using selected racks or each rack in room, why not a rack ATS?
I've used asset provisioning to add 2 0U, 1 outlet "rack PDUs" in each side of each rack, and made all of the upstream power connections, and am now trying to add 2 1U rack ATSes in each rack and connect each one to two of the four rack pdus in the rack.

Just adding to this. Simply manually dragging and dropping rack 2 rATSes into each rack, without even making any power connections, on more than 2-3 racks at a time also appears to crash the client when saving, losing my work.

Hi Jeff,
For the purpose of asset provisioning 😀, as described in the following page:
https://sxwhelpcenter.ecostruxureit.com/display/UADCO8x/Working+with+Asset+Provisioning
The system recommends the best location for a server in the rack layout, using available space, cooling, and power capacity to optimize capacity utilization and avoid stranded capacity.
To effectively identify the best location for the selected equipment using this feature, ensure the system is set up correctly, including the appropriate rack PDUs, UPS and PDUs, and power paths.
Concerning your client crash when adding rack-ats units: can you please provide the following: how to reproduce with screen captures illustrating which genome device is being used, and possibly modified in the local genomes. It would also be great if I may have a copy of your backup file.
Thanks,
Kind regards
