Advance view password reset for netbotz 570

We have the Netbotz 570 and for some or other reason I cannot seem to get on to the advance view with my standard username and password. I have reset the device by the hole next to the power cord ( the reset to factory settings, which I pressed and kept in for 10 seconds ) but even when doing this I am still unable to use the default  username and password in advance view. Please help

Hi Craig,

That should do it. If you don't mind resetting it to defaults, there is another option to reset everything as well. You can try running a "configreset". This is outlined in k-base FA158175. I've also pasted it below. You will need to re-IP the device. If this doesn't work with apc/apc for user/password (which I have never seen it fail), I would suggest checking the normal stuff such as fat fingering, caps lock, etc.

Steve.

WARNING: All settings, including TCP/IP settings, are reset to factory defaults by this procedure.

  1. If you have a V2 appliance, use a null modem serial cable (included with the bot) to connect the appliance to your computer system. If you have a V3 appliance, use a USBA-USBB cable(included with the netbot) to connect the appliance to your computer system.
  2. Start a serial communications application (such as Hyper terminal) on your computer system.
  3. Configure and establish a serial connection with the appliance. Use the following serial communication settings:
    • Bits per second: 38400
    • Data bits: 8
    • Parity: none
    • Stop Bits: 1
    • Flow Control: Hardware
  4. After you have successfully established a serial connection to the appliance, power-cycle the appliance. When the message
5. Hit any key to stop autoboot:

appears on screen, press Enter to interrupt the boot process and activate the NetBotz> prompt.

  1. Type at the NetBotz> prompt:
7. configreset

and then press Enter

  1. The appliance will erase its Flash memory, write a new default configuration, and then restart automatically.
  2. If you need to reset the appliance with a static ip, after the Netbot reboots, let it boot fully so that you get a login prompt.
  3. Login with either root/netbotz (V2) or root/apc (V3) and follow the prompts to reset the ip settings

You can now close the serial communications program, disconnect your console cable, and log into the appliance using the default User ID and Password of netbotz (V2) or apc (v3).

P.S. if you can't access the device serially, make sure you have the FTDI driver as noted in k-base FA158350

I am unable to login Netbotz Advance View with the default password. Are there any other methods to login to Netbotz Rack Monitor unit without erase flash memory ?

Juice,

The password is on the NetBotz appliance, not in the advanced View software. You are prompted in the software for the device password and to reset that password, you must follow the steps outlined above.

Thank you Steve for the prompt response.

If i follow these steps, would this erase all configurations on the Netbotz appliance or just the password ?

Juice,

to reset only the password, the reset button should work as was suggested in the initial post. Just now realized that the k-base for that was not mentioned. k-base FA158398.

If as suggested in this initial post that this procedure fails, then you would need to follow the procedure I outlined. That procedure will wipe out the config.

Thank you very much Steve.

My apologies for my ignorance Steven. if we follow the procedure, "erase flash memory of the Netbotz Rack monitor " all configs of the connected Rack Access Pods will be lost?

Our rack monitor has 6 rack access pods connected via daisy chain, my concern is if we erase the flash memory, would we have to configure each rack access pod?

Hi Juice,

That is correct, all configuration would be lost. Again, your first option should be k-base  FA158398. This is just a password reset. The second option of a configreset in k-base FA158350, that is in case something is wrong with the device (potentially a software corruption?) and will wipe all data. These are your options.

Juice,

The configuration of the rack access pod 170 is in the help files that get installed with the Advanced View software. You can also go to the product page for the 570 for user guides and configuration manuals:

http://www.apc.com/shop/us/en/products/NetBotz-Rack-Monitor-570/P-NBRK0570?isCurrentSite=true
