Adding An Email Alert To DCO Error/Alarm

I currently have an external system (StruxureWare Central) that is mapped to devices in DCO, when an error/alarm is generated from this device it appears in the Alarms tab in DCO but is there anyway to assign an email alert so if the alarm triggers DCO sends an email out?

I know this is possible in DCE but as this external system just feeds into DCO can I setup email alerts?

Hi James,

It is not possible to send email alerts from DCO. This has to be set up in DCE since this is the monitoring tool.

You will have to configure an alarm action in DCE that sends out an email.

Jesper As this is an external system that is generating alarms unless we have access to configure the email setting on the system it won't be possible to send an email?

Hi James, That is correct you can not configure DCO to sent out email alerts. This should be done in DCE. The only emails that can be sent from DCO is in relation to work orders in the Change module. But this is work orders that are sent out, not alerts. Thanks Jesper

Jesper, Thanks for the answer. I understand DCE is the alerting tool but it maybe be a good feature to allow DCO to send out emails for external systems as they may be managed by another party. This would negate the need to contact them and ask them to configure an email address.
