Hi,
I've noticed the Add My Device function appeared in the support pages, is this intended to be an online searchable library of DDF files? - That would be really useful if so.
Or is it just a function to submit DDF lookups or requests to MultiVendor support?
I have tried searching for some known DDF files but nothing comes back, just a request form.
I wasn't sure whether the search box is one that should auto-search as typing a device in...
Thanks,
David

Hi David,
The "Add My Device" BETA is basically deigned to post request for DCE and DCO related device support (eg. new DDF and or Genome request). Similar question have been discussed here:
Kind regards

Hi David, thanks for your interest in Add My Device 🙂 Actually we decided to launch the feature without historical info on current DDFs and Genomes, to be able to release quickly. If you could add some thoughts about why the library search would be valuable to you, it would be great to help our understanding of what we could do to improve the feature? Thanks a lot! Best, Kristoffer DCIM Support program manager

But,
...very much it seems to me, that this function technically offers only addition of your device in your profile no more :-). Maybe once will be on another, but not now...
Below I publish the URL-request from my DCE-client software:
http://dcimsupport.apc.com/?product=DCE&version=7.2.7.25&user=MYLOGIN&language=ru&installId=XX:XX:XX...Tell, please, where here it is possible to see request for device support (eg. new DDF and or Genome request)?
And what to do, tell please, if my login in DCE-client software (MYLOGIN in URL-request) doesn't match my login on http://dcimsupport.apc.com at all?
Very thanks for the support.

Hi Kristoffer, Currently we deploy DCE and DCO in many different sites which have various differing plant such as UPS and Cooling systems by multiple third party vendors. So we have over the years requested quite a large number of DDF files from MultiVendor Support. Initially I would walk new devices and compile request forms (which all take time, sometimes quite a lot of time to gather the necessary information from the vendor) and then send on to MVS, only to find out they already had the DDF available from a previous customer request. So it would be great to be able to look up online quickly whether a DDF for a given device was already available for download, and also it would be great when deploying a DCE server on site to be able to easily find and download a DDF file for a piece of equipment without having to wait and then returning to site later. This is especially true as Multivendor Support are in a different time zone and so there can sometimes be delays between requesting a DDF file and receiving a response from MVS. Also, it would be nice to be able to handle customer expectation before a deployment begins, we would be able to let them know more easily whether their system will be up and running straight away or whether there would be a lead time while a new DDF was created by MVS. This mainly applies to DCE DDF files - I'm personally not really so worried about DCO genomes as it is generally quite easy to manually create a genome or workaround in DCO as the need comes up. Thanks, David

Hi spezialist,
The Community log in (and access to the ADD MY DEVICE feature) dose not require DCE or DCO client credentials at all.
Currently the Add My Device feature offers posting your request(s), after posting the request(s) you should be able to follow the progress on your profile page (see the drop-down under your Community log in profile > "My device requests").
Hope this helps.
Kind regards

Hi Team! I would like to join David's comment. It will be very useful tool if we can check DDF availability for certain device online without request for multivedorsupport team. If we will be able to download files from from support page - it will be real breakthrough 🙂

I agree totally with David's comments, it is something I have been seeking for many years from Schneider.
