Hello
I have downloaded the last version of the ddf file (version 13 file name apcats.xml) and updated into DCE.
Unfortunately after the initialization of the device I got the follow critical error :
“Device status may be incaccurate because an attempt to transfer a device definition file (DDF) failed.”
Alarm Type :
Device definition file(DDF) Transfer Failure

Hi Boris,
There is a separate alert ddf that DCE downloads from the device directly. K-base FA177004 outlines the issue and resolution.
Thanks,
Steve

Hi Boris,
There is no way to manually load the alerts DDF file to DCE. It's not like the scanner DDF you were showing in your initial comment. It must be done automatically using FTP or SCP as per the document. The proper protocol must be enabled on the device and in DCE with the proper device file transfer settings in DCE.
If you want to download the DDF to test connections to the device, you can simpy FTP to the card and "get ddf.zip". It is a hidden file so LS won't show it but you can still download it. Just don't try to upload it to DCE using the scanner DDF upload option.
The AP44xx transfer switches had an issue due to firmware but the AP7723 should not have this same issue. I'd still suggest that you ensure the device is up to date on it's firmware.

The format of the chosen definition file is invalid. ......"
The Application version of ATS AP7723 is 3.7.1
Maybe update the firmware can solve this problem ?

Hi Boris,
I would expect an error. As I stated quite clearly, you can not take that ddf.zip file and upload it to DCE. It MUST be done automatically. The DDF team can not create a new scanner DDF to resolve this issue. If you can not resolve the issue by using the k-base I have provided, I strongly suggest working with your local tech support team directly.

I've found that with DDF file transfers, you should enable only FTP (disable telnet/SSH). Make sure to create a 'Device File Transfer Setting' within StruxureWare with the correct device credentials.
Reboot device and 'Request Device Scan'. Shortly after the alarm will clear.
If it does not, remove and re-add to StruxureWare with the above settings. The idea is to give the file a clear path in which to transfer (FTP only).
