I am curious why, if the AP8941 current firmware is 6.4.6 why then is my DCE only updating my PDUs to 6.4.4? I now have a wierd mix of 6.4.6 firmware PDUs that I manually upgraded before putting into production...and now cannot update my 30+ other PDUs in DCE. Can some tell me how APC might be out of sync with their own firmware versions?

Hi Giovanni,
DCE does not pull directly from the web. More specifically, it doesn't pull from the downloads page where the individual files reside. The individual files are updated first. Soon after (at least usually and assuming there are no issues) the catalog that DCE can pull from when you ask it to check for updates gets updated. If you haven't requested an update, make sure you do. About that time but maybe a day or 2 later the manually downloadable catalog is released in the downloads page.
I cant say which files will be available at what stage of release in DCE. I can check the catalog on Tuesday when I return or if they'd like, others reading this post can verify the availability of the newest PDU firmware available to DCE.

Steve,
First, thanks for your reply.
As relates to the 6.4.6 software for the 2G PDUs...it came out in Dec. 2016 so if I am running DCE 7.4.3; I would hope 6+ month old updates would be available in the catalog you describe.
In your post you suggest, "If you haven't requested an update, make sure you do." Tho whom and/or how to I request updates?
As for what is available in 7.4.3 for the PDUs...it is 6.4.4, I know that becasue the several I updated from within DCE moved to 6.4.4 and not to the newest 6.4.6.
Sorry to be a bother, but I do appreciate the help.
v/r,
GSM

Giovanni,
Again, I am not in the office till Tuesday so I won't be able to get you screenshots till then but in the firmware upgrade dialog there is an option to check for updates. You can also manually download the firmware catalog at www.apc.con/tools/download
filter the list for software /StruxureWare DCE and you'll see the catalog. I'm pretty sure 6.4.6 is there but again, I won't be able to be certain till I can double check or until you verify by downloading the catalog.

Ok, now I am tracking. Thanks for the info...I never knew there were separately available catalogs online.
That said, I just downloaded the latest catalog 8/8/17 from the website you provided. Unfortunately, it only contains the 644 firmware update.
Two questions. One, is there a way I can update the zip file myself with the new update if I simply download it manually and thus allowing DCE to update all my PDUs?
If I cannot update the catalog myself, do you know the process to request that an 8+ month old update be added to the "current" catalog?
Thanks,
GSM

Hi Giovanni,
no, there is no manual option to add firmware to the catalog, please don't try. As for a feature request, there is an option in the main menu above.
I will try and find out why it's not in there yet. Again, this won't happen until next week.

Hi Giovanni,
So the reason it was not added to the DCE firmware catalog is an issue with SNMP version 3. I thought about this after my previous answer but wanted to verify and get the k-base number before saying anything. K-base FA305661 outlines the issue which could cause problems with people using SNMP version 3. So as not to break their systems, it was decided not to add it to the DCE catalog.
