DCE 7.2.7 client using twice as much memory as 7.2.0. Why? Can we reduce this?
DCE 7.2.7 Client: Uses ~243k of memory.
DCE 7.2.0 Client: Uses <100k of memory.
I also run DCO which is using >200k of memory but I can understand that since it is an intense program however I don't have ANY rooms open.

Hi John,
There is no specific information on this. I can tell you that you 're talking about an application that has been revised about 7 times, it simply works differently. I can also tell you that newer versions could potentially use different versions of java which could also effect memory.
I don't have a 7.2.0 system readily available but but I do have a 7.2.7 system. When I launched to DCE 7.2.7, my system was reporting a usage just about 200m (200,000k). I clicked on different windows and it went up a little. I ran a simple 3 sensor report and by this time I was up to about 225m memory usage. Looking at surveillance and it went over 230m. Noting this, I can say that different systems, different DCE configurations, amount of nodes, and different aspects of the UI being accessed or viewed will cause differences in the memory usage.
I also noted that in the release notes, the minimum system requirement for the console application is at least a gig of memory. This should leave more than enough room for error and most systems nowadays have much more RAM available. If this is causing issues, tech support can look into it but it would seem your running at decent level. Again, there is no documentation specifically stating what aspects have been updated that can cause more memory usage. Release notes state the updates made but that is not going to provide you with specific numbers.

Thanks, just want to make sure there wasn't an issue. For me, it means I can't keep everything open and be able to do my job.
I will learn to close some windows.
