Managing DHCP on the Gateway appliance - version 1.9 and older

Picard EcoStruxureIT

The Ecostruxure IT Gateway appliance comes with a DHCP server configured and enabled by default on the private network (eth1 interface in Webmin, port 2 on the Gateway appliance).

WARNING: Running more than one DHCP server on the private network is not recommended. If you are deploying the Gateway on a private network that already has a DHCP server, such as from a Data Center Expert server,  you must disable the DHCP service on the Gateway or on the other device providing DHCP service.

Disable the DHCP server on the EcoStruxure IT Gateway

  1. In Webmin, select System Configuration.
  2. Click Configure DHCP Interface. GWA10_360022822093.pngGWA10_360022822093.png
  3. Type disable in the text field.
  4. Click Execute to stop and disable the DHCP service. GWA11_360022822093.pngGWA11_360022822093.png

Clicking Execute will display the following output. Click Return to commands. GWA12_360022822093.pngGWA12_360022822093.png

Enable (Re-enable) the DHCP server on the EcoStruxure IT Gateway private network

  1. Select System Configuration > Tools.
  2. Click Configure DHCP Interface. GWA13_360022822093.pngGWA13_360022822093.png
  3. Enter eth1 in the field
  4. Click Execute to enable and start the DHCP services on the private network. GWA14.png

Clicking Execute will display the following output. Click Return to commands.GWA15.png

Editing DHCP server settings

Configure the DHCP server settings in the DHCP Server menu if the Gateway is going to provide DHCP services but you need to change the default settings. For example, change this setting if your private network uses a range of IP addresses different from the default.

Click the DHCP profile 192.168.0.0 to open an Edit Subnet window to customize the DHCP IP address range, subnet mask, and many other configuration details.

The Stop Server button stops the DHCP service. This change is only temporary and does not disable the service permanently. The DHCP service will restart if the Gateway is rebooted or the Start Server button is clicked.

Once edits are completed, click Save in the Edit Subnet window.

Click Apply Changes to apply new DHCP settings immediately.
