Initially I thought this was a rectangle to be animated left AND right, or up AND down.
For that there are two ways:
a) Create two rectangles, one from right-to-left and one from left to right. Usable if the center is fixed.
b) Use a single rectangle animated by size AND position. e.g. use this for an error bar
But I re-read the question and the size animation is in orthogonal directions WITH DIFFERENT SIZES.
This can be done indirectly by combining dynamic position and dynamic sizing, and using a 'cover' to hide the lower portion of the rectangle. You'll need to think about overlaps/layers if these symbols are close to each other.
here's the underneath moving/sizing rectangle. Set a path to move the height of the rectangle.
And just put the same size rectangle over the top, using the background color.
... ... ...
Thinking further - you could make the two rectangles overlap and animate the 'top background' rectangle in size from bottom to top.
