Hello
Maybe you are stuck with the problem.
Every time I restart my computer, ViewX loses the license file.
Every time I open Configure Connection and open and apply the license file.
I have over 50 ViewX clients, only two of them have this problem.
Windows 10

The client licence filename is stored in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Schneider Electric\ClearSCADA\LicenceServer\LicenceFile
Does this registry setting have the correct value (filename) after applying the new licence file?
Does this registry setting persist across restarts?
If the client configuration tool fails to write the new filename to the registry then no error is reported.

Thank you for your answer, Andrew.
I verified:
- the regisrey hes setting the correct value file name after applying the new licence file
- the registry hes persists across restarts
But I noticed an additional key on computers where the license is lost:

I'm not clear what you mean by "the license is lost".
I took this to mean that the licence was not been stored (in the registry), but it now sounds like something else.
What exactly are the symptoms that you are seeing?
I would suggest reviewing the log files in "C:\ProgramData\Schneider Electric\ClearSCADA\Logs\LicenceServer" folder to see if they shows any issues.
The "FavorWiFiCards" setting changes the algorithm for selecting which network adaptor is used for the licence (in the machine ID).

I am also experiencing this issue with a client. It does not happen on all occasions only infrequently. 'Use Client Licensing' is ticked ok however, when the situation arises the client states 'floating license'. To resolve I have to apply the .lic file. Any suggestions?

@Killultagh Does it say "Server floating license" or "No license server - Server floating license"?
The later indicates that the licence server Windows service is stopped.
If the former, what does it show for the other information properties?
Reviewing the licence server log files (see previous post) may shed some light on what is happening.

The log files so the following message. The license file is in place and permissions are ok.
Failed to validate license file : Invalid machine id... failed to initialise licence file, 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Schneider Electric\ClearSCADA\xxxxxxxx.lic' - check it exists and permissions allow this service to read the file.

@Killultagh The invalid machine ID error indicates that the machine ID in the licence file doesn't match the machine ID of the client machine. As you've indicated that this issue is intermittent, that suggests that the hardware in the machine is sometimes changing, most likely the network adaptors.
The licence server log files have lots of detail related to this. It includes information about the hardware that was used for the last successful licence when currently failed (look for "Previous valid"). When licence is valid it logs which hardware was used (look for "Hardware used to validate license"). It also enumerates all of the network adaptors in the machine so you can match adaptor names to descriptions, types etc.

Thanks for the info Andrew. The issue appears to be with the Machine ID.

I had two servers that had teamed network cards one was fine the other would fail it license check. The MAC address would randomly change to another one. It was always the same two MAC addresses. IT did not know why it was happening, so I tried taking the original MAC address and in Windows manually setting it and the customer had no more problems. I assume the manual setting overrode whatever was making the random change.
